The debate marks the 30-year anniversary of the Equal Opportunity Act 1984 (SA), which has played an important role in promoting equality of opportunity for all South Australians. The topic will be debated by:
Following the debate, an interactive online timeline of Equal Opportunity in South Australia will be launched by Minister Gail Gago. The timeline will show how our state has been a leader of equal opportunity – from women’s rights to vote and participate in parliament in the 1800s, through to prohibition of race discrimination in the 1960s and decriminalisation of homosexual acts between consenting adults in the 1970s, to the present day.
