The battle for breakfast radio ratings is getting interesting with new duo Mark Ricciuto and Chris Dittmar  making progress while 891ABC and Mix102 continue to dominate market share in the prime slot.

Radio station Triple M’s decision to move “Roo and Ditts” into its breakfast shift midway through the year is paying dividends with the duo adding listeners in the latest radio ratings report.

The fifth radio survey for the year, which covers May 25 to August 16, shows the brekkie duo on 9.2 per cent, up from 8.2 per cent.

Dittmar and Ricciuto had considerable success in Drive, taking on and beating FIVEaa after its years of dominance in that shift.

With that notch on their belt the duo moved moving to early mornings and Andrew Jarman and Dale Lewis took over drive.

That move has allowed FIVEaa to regain its hold on sports talk in Drive recording 12.7 per cent, up from 10.7 in the previous survey.

ABC 891’s pair of Matt Abraham and David Bevan retained their number one spot in breakfast with 15.3 per cent, just ahead of music station Mix102.3 on 15.1.

The two stations serve different markets with the ABC drawing on the 55 plus age group while music station Mix has broad support across age groups 18 to 64 years.

FIVEaa’s evening presenter Jeremy Cordeaux continues his good run, taking top spot in that timeslot with 14.3 per cent, up from 11.6.

Stay informed, daily

Across the seven day and all shifts data Mix dominates at 15.9 per cent, followed by FIVEaa on 11.4, ABC891 on 10.9 and Nova91.9 on 10.4

Triple M is moving closer to that bracket with 9.2 per cent while SAFM gained ground in morning and afternoon audiences to come in at 8.0, up from 6.8 per cent last survey.
