The Adelaide-Richmond clash on Saturday night takes on an extra flavour with the possibility that former Crow Chris Knights could make his first AFL appearance of the season.

Knights, who missed three months after a knee injury, starred in Richmond’s 98-point VFL victory over Bendigo last weekend.

He played 96 games and booted 68 goals with Adelaide from eight seasons at the club, before making the move to Punt Road as an unrestricted free agent.

Richmond is on a six-game winning streak while Adelaide comes off the back of a record-breaking away win against Brisbane.

Port’s winning chances will be boosted by news that key Gold Coast defender Steven May will miss Saturday’s crucial AFL clash due to a hamstring strain. The big backman was injured in last weekend’s loss to Carlton and was ruled out by the Suns yesterday.

May’s absence will create a big gap for coach Guy McKenna as the Suns try to keep alive their hopes of a maiden finals berth against the Power.

“He’s going to be out for a few weeks,” Suns’ high-performance manager Stephen Schwerdt told the club’s website.

“It’s a bit unfortunate for Steve. He’s had a sensational year, really.”

Schwerdt said vice-captain Michael Rischitelli should be right to overcome the corked hip which resulted in him being subbed out of the clash with the Blues.
