Former transport and infrastructure boss Rod Hook pocketed more than $500,000 after his contract as chief executive was torn up by Premier Jay Weatherill in May.
Hook was told on May 8 that his services as chief executive of the Department of Transport, Planning and Infrastructure were no longer required.
Details of his exit package have been released by the Premier’s office.
Hook had more than two years to run on his contract.
“Mr Hook is entitled to four months written notice or payment in lieu (equating to $118,966); a termination payment of $242,170 based on four months (pay) for each uncompleted year of the term of appointment,” the statement said.
“In total the termination payment equates to $361,136.
“In addition, payment of leave entitlements of approximately $147,959 ($31,653 in annual leave and $116,306 in long service leave) brought the total gross payment received by Mr Hook to $509,095.”
The Premier also terminated the contract of Renewal SA boss Fred Hansen, who had three years to run on his contract.
Supporters of Rod Hook have taken to Facebook to pay tribute to his time in the public service.
Hook responded on line: “I have been hugely flattered by the kudos given me for the steel, bricks and mortar we have been able to spread around the city over recent years.
“But way more than that, what means most to me is the way you guys have responded with your messages of support, appreciation and love expressed below. I will be forever grateful.”
