Adelaide’s win-loss-win-loss rollercoaster has to end this weekend if the club wants to play finals – and it has turned to Australia’s cricket coach to find the answer.

Darren Lehmann addressed Adelaide players and coaches on Thursday, giving them something to think about on the flight to Sydney for Saturday’s match against Greater Western Sydney.

Adelaide hasn’t had successive wins since round six.

“He’s one of the Crows ambassadors, he’s a big Crows fan so we’re really grateful today we’ve got the opportunity to spend some time with him,” Adelaide’s coach Brenton Sanderson told reporters after the session.

“We can learn a lot, even though it’s a different industry and a different sport, there’s a lot of similarities between the coaches and the players.

“The anxiety – when you walk out to bat at the MCG on Boxing Day, similar anxieties [to] walking out on Adelaide Oval, first quarter of a Showdown.”

Adelaide takes on GWS with the prospect of a let-down after their stunning Showdown win last weekend.

Almost written off as a final eight chance, they can put themselves back in the hunt with a win.

Adelaide easily beat the Giants earlier in the season in round five with a home ground advantage.

Sanderson knows the Giants will be a different side this time.

“That won’t count for anything, scores will start level … we’ve just got to get away to a good start,” he said.

“We can’t afford to give them a sniff … we have to attack this game like we attacked Port last week.

“Our only focus this week really is to beat the Giants and that’s the attitude we’ll try an take up there.”

At the selection table, Adelaide welcomed back Ricky Henderson for his first AFL game of the season.

Henderson had surgery after fracturing an ankle in a pre-season run.

David Mackay (concussion) and Rory Laird (quad) are also back from injury while retiring full-back Ben Rutten has also been recalled.

The Giants have recalled Toby Greene, Tom Scully and Zac Williams.

Vice-captain Heath Shaw will miss after suffering concussion against the Swans last week, while Josh Hunt and Nathan Wilson have been omitted.

Greene returns following a five-match club imposed suspension.
