Commemorating the Centenary of Anzac: Why is it Important for all Australians?
For the 2014 Annual Hawke Lecture, Air Chief Marshal Houston (Ret’d) will reflect on why the Centenary of Anzac will be such a special time for all Australians.
From the 4th of August this year, Australia will begin commemorating the Centenary of the First World War. Anzac Centenary commemorative events and initiatives will run until 2018, reflecting the length of the Great War.
Why is it important to observe this time in history and why does the Anzac story and the values remain so central to what it means to be an Australian today and in the future? The Centenary not only provides us with the opportunity to remember the service and sacrifice of our past and current servicemen and women but to unify this ever-changing nation.
Don’t miss this significant event on the Hawke Centre Calendar.
