Annually the Hawke Centre, the Migrant Resource Centre of SA, and the School of Art, Architecture and Design, at the University of South Australia co-present the SA Refugee Week Youth Poster Awards Exhibition.
Coinciding with Refugee Week, this year’s exhibition will be formally opened by Jennifer Rankine MP, Minister for Education and Child Development on 16 June. Refugee Week is Australia’s peak annual event to raise awareness about the issues affecting refugees and to celebrate the positive contributions made by refugees to Australian society.
In keeping with the themes of Refugee Week, this exhibition showcases posters created by South Australian students from primary to tertiary level that celebrate the UN International Refugee Convention. The artwork communicates the message that refugees are welcome, and contribute to the Australian “family”. The Exhibition is part of a growing visual dialogue describing multiculturalism, anti-racism and human rights, and celebrating cultural diversity.
See the Migrant Resource Centre of SA website for more details on how you can mark Refugee Week and celebrate our cultural diversity.
