It’s time again to get involved in About Time, South Australia’s History Festival. The Hawke Centre are joining the celebrations by co-hosting two exciting events that will provide the opportunity to connect to our past.
Sharing the good earth: the society behind the Royal Show
Rob Linn will provide some tantalising insights into the story of the Royal Agricultural and Horticultural Society of SA Inc. – the society behind the Royal Adelaide Show, and reveal some of the Society’s extraordinary archives.
Register for this free event, 14 May, 6pm,
Allan Scott Auditorium, University of South Australia
You can also visit the complementary exhibition: Sharing the good earth: 175 years of influence and vision, free at the Kerry Packer Civic Gallery, from 5 May until 5 June. This exhibition showcases the 175-year journey of the Royal Agricultural & Horticultural Society of SA Inc – an organisation run by people with passion and foresight.
These events will be co-presented with the Royal Agricultural & Horticultural Society of SA Inc (RA&HS).
Open House Adelaide
The University of South Australia is also pleased to be involved in Open House Adelaide, providing Adelaide with the opportunity to visit some of its iconic buildings, including the Hawke Centre’s Kerry Packer Civic Gallery.
While the views presented by speakers within the Hawke Centre public program are their own and are not necessarily those of either the University of South Australia or The Hawke Centre, they are presented in the interest of open debate and discussion in the community and reflect our themes of: strengthening our democracy – valuing our diversity – and building our future.
