England wicketkeeper Jos Buttler concedes his team needs to start regularly posting scores in excess of 300 if they are to taste success in the one-day arena.
Australia’s ability to score more than six runs per over has played a crucial role in propelling them to a 3-0 series lead against England.
Buttler said the new fielding regulations, which forced teams to place an extra fielder inside the 30-yard circle, meant scores above 300 should now be the norm, not the exception.
“When Australia were in India, you were seeing scores of 350, 360 being chased down,” Buttler said ahead of Friday’s one-day clash at the WACA Ground.

“With the new rules, the sky is the limit almost.
“If you want to win games of cricket and the way people can hit the ball these days with these new regulations, 300 is around about the figure you need to get to.”
England are currently riding a nine-game losing streak, with five of those losses coming in Tests, and the other four in one-dayers.
Buttler said England needed to overcome the fear of losing in order to reach their potential.
“One-day cricket is a tough game to play when your confidence has been knocked,” Buttler said.
“You need to play with that free, open mind and that is something we need to do.

“We can’t worry about consequences.
“I think we just need to take that mentality and that real positive reinforcement.
“You have got to play with confidence.
“We have to try and lose that worry and know what good players we are and be confident in that.”
