It’s not fine

LEON KLITSCHER: I’m not surprised that “high fines” don’t appear to be a deterrent [to driving offences]. There are millions of dollars of fines unpaid. How about spicing things up a bit with late payment penalties, confiscation of property and, if necessary as a last resort, jail. And let’s bring back random licence checks. As for those whingers and squawkers who squeal like a stuck pig when fined for speeding, here’s an idea: don’t speed.
