A South Australian minor party is challenging rivals to follow its lead and reject election posters for the 2014 state campaign.

Dignity for Disability MLC Kelly Vincent announced this morning that the party had decided to go poster-free for the March election campaign.

“Dignity for Disability understands that the community is tired of having their Stobie poles and fences littered with posters of candidates,” says Kelly Vincent.

“They’re a visual blight, distracting to drivers, and an environmental disaster.”

Vincent said the party would prefer to spend its “very modest campaign budget” on “discussing our ideas and policies with the electorate”.

“We challenge other political parties to commit to the same – no wasteful, unwanted candidate posters for election 2014,” she said.
