Greg Snell’s introduction to Australia’s Outback

Dec 20, 2013, updated May 12, 2025

Greg Snell is South Australia’s Wildlife Caretaker, a position won in Tourism Australia’s Best Jobs in the World campaign.

In this short video, Greg is introduced to the South Australian Outback on a driving holiday along the Explorers Way from Darwin to Adelaide.

In Greg’s words:

“This is a short video highlighting the interpretation of my first trip into the famed South Australian Outback. It is my attempt to harness the raw energy this land so effortlessly protrudes. To put a material project together displaying the overwhelming sense of forever forgotten. A place left for the forces of millions of years of wind, rain, ice, and ultimately, man. A landscape so vast it sparks ones childhood imagination and evokes a state of almost heightened consciousness. The feeling of enormity that pushes you to go further, to reach for the horizon and kiss the sun.

My first attempt at harnessing the effect The Outback has had on this intrepid traveller. I hope you like it!!”
