Essay Raider’s winning form is expected to continue in the Listed City of Marion Stakes at Morphettville Saturday.

A winner in two of his past three outings, the Leon Macdonald/Andrew Gluyas prepared colt has drawn perfectly in barrier 4, and he will have Clare Lindop on board.

The $80,000 race attracted a capacity field at final acceptance time with the majority of the line-up no doubt eyeing off the Listed Adelaide Galvanising Christmas Handicap, which will be run on Adelaide Galvanising Boxing Day Family Races on Thursday 26 December.

For this 1200m race, the weights are headed by John Hyam’s classy sprinter Esprit De Bullet, who will need to be at the top of his game with his impost of 60.5kg.

A winner in 11 of his 27 starts, and with more than $300,000 in prize money to his name, he too has drawn well and will come up with the inside alley from barrier one, with Jason Holder as his rider.

Another interesting runner to watch is the South East sprinter, Action Again.

A member of the astute Michael O’Leary yard, he has not raced since winning the rich Palmerston Sprint in Darwin in August.

With 10 wins from 19 starts to his credit, he has also drawn favourably from barrier five and will have Matthew Neilson in the saddle this Saturday.

The City Of Marion Stakes is Race 7 on Morphettville’s program this Saturday and will be run at 4.25pm.

Racing is set for a bumper few weeks this December with regular Saturday meetings boosted by the Christmas Twilight meeting on Friday the 20th and the Boxing Day feature race day.
