Letters to the Editor

JENNIFER EDGEMORE: Re your story WorkCover runs second to self-insured employers (InDaily, 1 November 2013), I bring to Minister Rau’s attention the 2010 report on WorkCover by the Statutory Authorities Review Committee of Parliament, particularly its recommendation that WorkCover establish a more open and consultative management style with injured workers and interested stakeholders such as the Work Injured Resource Centre (WIRC).

Minister Rau has avoided every approach from Work Injured Resource Connection Inc, even though a Parliamentary report headed by Members of his own party has recommended a close working relationship.

If Minister Rau wants to be remembered as the Minister who actually put injured workers first, then he will direct the CEO of WorkCover to start the required process.

Failing that, when Mitch Williams becomes the Minister after the March 2014 election he will take on recommendation number 2 and put in place what is required.

GREG HOWE: My letter that appeared on Friday was incorrect. My apologies to all. There are only two Friday night games at Adelaide Oval next year, not three. One for the Crows in Round 17 and one for Port (a Showdown) in Round 22. Two Friday nights out of 23 rounds at the fabulously expensive new football stadium. What a “game changer” for the city! (Editor’s note: Days and times for the final round are not yet set by the AFL.)
