The latest edition of BankSA’s full colour magazine Business Focus is hot off the press and this edition celebrates South Australia’s amazing food sector.
Business Focus is published twice a year and is a chance for us to showcase a host of dedicated and many long running local business brands which help form the backbone of the local economy.
BankSA has always been a strong supporter of local businesses and is keen to help promote the hardworking individuals and families behind these enterprises – many who are our customers.F
Over coming months we’ll profile some of the Business Focus SMEs we work with and reveal more about their philosophies as business operators, as well as their range of products and services.
We chose to focus on food and the SA food sector in this latest edition because there’s no shortage of new and established operators out there – both the well- known and the not so well known.
The sector has also been identified by the State Government as one of the seven priorities for building South Australia’s future and when considering food, the aim is to further enhance our reputation for premium food and wine.
When it comes to agricultural production, South Australia’s 983,482 square kilometres incorporate diverse micro-climates and distinct regions, growing and producing an extraordinary range of food and wine, for which we are known around the world.
According to State Government figures, our food and wine industry is already worth an estimated $15 billion and accounts for around 45% of South Australia’s total merchandise exports.
By 2050 the world’s demand for food is expected to rise by 70 per cent and this represents great opportunities for our State which enjoys a strong food tradition incorporating many local family businesses and represents a variety of different cultures.
For this edition of Business Focus, with all the wonderful images as usual by SA photographer Tom Roschi, we have spoken to a number of metropolitan and regional-based food producers, processors and produce growers from around SA and the NT. In coming weeks we’ll introduce many of them to you.
