South Australian stables have a strong hand in Saturday’s Caulfield Guineas meeting with four Croweaters set for Group One glory, including last start winner Eclair Big Bang
Phillip Stokes’ emerging star three-year-old will run as one of the popular picks in the $1,000,000 BECK Caulfield Guineas after his brilliant win in the Guineas Prelude two weeks ago.
Éclair big Bang is on the third line of betting at $7.50behind favourite Long John ($4.50) and the highly fancied Prince Harada ($5).
Lloyd Kennewell will saddle up Nite Rocker, but his horse has a difficult task from the extreme outside gate of barrier 14.
Former South Australian trainer Mark Kavanagh, will send out his champion mare Atlantic Jewel to atone for her last start second to Its A Dundeel, when she lines up for the Cathay Pacific Caulfield Stakes in Race 6.
Atlantic Jewel will run as a short priced favourite, as she sets out to cement her place at the head of the Cox Plate markets.
Race nine is the David Jones NBCF Toorak Handicap, and two South Australian stables will be represented.
David Jolly will start his smart sprinter Budriguez, but his chances have been severely dented after drawing barrier 15 of 17.
Tony McEvoy’s classy import Mouro has fared better with barrier 10, and champion jockey Glen Boss has been booked for the ride.
At Morphettvile there’s an eight race card; the main event is the Listed Hill Smith Stakes.
This race for three year olds, sees a field of eight runners with four locals pitted against four Victorians.

The best chance of an SA victory lies with either Thomason from the Phillip Stokes stable, or Gamblin’ Guru for Leon Macdonald and Andrew Gluyas.
After a great tussle up the home straight when this pair clashed recently, it was Thomason who took the points narrowly.
Of the interstate raiders, the best hopes appear to be Self Sense for David Brideoake and David Feek, and Storm Approach for Peter Moody.
Gates open at 10.30am, with the first race at 1.03pm.
