Free city buses more frequent

The free city loop bus will run more frequently after the Adelaide City Council and State Government combined two overlapping services.

Commuters can expect to see the free bus turn up at city loop stops every 15 minutes, down from the current 20. The loop runs incorporates a clockwise and counter-clockwise service.

The service will serve much of the CBD including North Terrace, East Terrace, Hutt St, Halifax St and Sturt St including Whitmore and Victoria Squares.

A second loop service running on 30-minute intervals will run through both the CBD and North Adelaide.

The increased service is the result of a merger between the City Council’s current Connector Bus service and the 99C service.

“By combining our resources we can deliver a more frequent level of service to more parts of the city and extend the service to the residential and commercial centre of North Adelaide,” Transport Services Minister Chloë Fox said in a statement released this morning.

In Western Australia, where public transport use has increased significantly over the last decade, multiple high-frequency bus routes are run through the Perth CBD.
