New data on late-running north-south buses

Sep 13, 2013, updated May 09, 2025

Nearly a third of services on Adelaide’s troubled north-south bus route failed to run on time, the latest transport performance data reveals.

The data released today, for the January to March quarter, shows 69.5 per cent of buses on the north-south route ran on time.

That compares to 93.4 per cent of buses on routes in the Adelaide Hills and 82.2 per cent on the east-west routes.

However, north-south route performance has jumped significantly since the October to December 2012 quarter, when only 61.4 per cent of buses ran on time.

The January to March quarter was the last one before the State Government moved to take several north-south bus routes from Transfield and hand them to Torrens Transit.

The results from that move will be revealed in the June to September performance report.

The data released today was due out several months ago.

The Transport Department say additional time was needed to prepare the report because the department was focused on facilitating the Transfield route swap.
