Is this your money?

Have you left some money in an old bank account?

More than 10,000 Australians have left amounts ranging from $500 to more than $66,000 in unclaimed accounts with banks and financial instututions.

The Australian Securities and Investments Commission publishes an updated list of unclaimed monies twice a year – this year’s 3219 page list, released today, can be searched here.

Analysis by InDaily in past years shows the accounts often hold dividends paid into bank accounts where the holder has moved address, sporting or social groups whose committee members have changed without passing on details, and those people who have just plain forgot about an account.

The Standom Smallgoods Social Club of Hendon, for example, has more than $600 in an account.

The Microbits Social Club of Stepney, run by Sean Squire, left $902.00 in its account.

The Adelaide Uni Football Club Foundation has more than $9000 ready to be claimed.

If you are on this list, you still have an opportunity to claim the money before its handed over to the Commonwealth Government.
