Join SA Life this Sunday as they celebrate Her Majesty’s Theatre’s 100th birthday, make Vietnamese Choko Duck Salad, discover a new National Motor Museum exhibition, meet a Holden enthusiast, and take a look into the rewarding art of blacksmithing.

Grant Cameron takes a look back at a century of live entertainment in Adelaide as Her Majesty’s Theatre celebrates its 100th birthday.  Her Majesty’s Theatre has had several owners, several names and her walls have seen everything from circus to ballet, opera to rock and tragedy to comedy.  This grand building has managed to retain its charm and reputation as one of Australia’s best theatrical venues so we salute 100 years of “Her Maj”.

Chef Rosa Matto’s takes a fresh approach to the unfamiliar when she makes a Vietnamese Choko Duck Salad.   Chokos are often overlooked but their fresh crisp texture combines perfectly with Asian Duck.  Perfect for a light lunch or entrée, this dish will have you wondering why chokos are a rare ingredient.

Pete Michell checks out a brand new exhibition at the National Motor Museum. ‘Sunburnt Country’ – icons of Australian Motoring is a permanent exhibition which brings together a selection of significant vehicles and stories from the first 50 years of Australian motoring.

Pete also catches up with passionate author Don Loffler – who has just released his fifth book which reflects on Australia’s own car: the Holden.  ‘Holden Days’ available through Wakefield Press, showcases ten Holden models from the 1948 – 1968 and includes hundreds of previously unpublished photographs.

Forging ahead – Briony Hume meets the Iron Men of the Fleurieu Peninsula! These days blacksmithing is a challenging art, not just in the fierce heat of the coke-fired forge or the heavy manual labour. With much metal work ordered out of catalogues, the personal passion and skill put into a custom made piece is often overlooked. Briony meets two artists who are determined to keep this age-old skill alive.

Watch this Sunday 5.30pm on Channel 7.
