The Federal government’s White Paper: Australia in the Asian Century is an aspirational document that has outlined the possibilities for economic, cultural and linguistic growth if Australia was to embrace the goal of greater integration and engagement with Asia.
Since returning from overseas to join the ABC News in 2010, and in the wake of the White Paper, highly experienced international journalist Jane Hutcheon has occupied a unique vantage point from which to see the ebbs and flows of recent media coverage of Asia.

In this provocative discussion Jane will reflect on the attitudes and issues holding back wider engagement.
