New accommodation offering an authentic farm stay experience will soon open in the Barossa attracting families and food and wine enthusiasts.
Dairyman’s Cottage will provide new, 4 star modern accommodation with its point of difference being that it is an integral part of an operating farm and premium food brand, ‘Barossa Heritage Pork’.
The two bedroom cottage will be furnished by local artist and furniture maker Peter Hart and will also offer complimentary farm and vineyard tours. Dairyman’s Cottage guests will also be able to cook with produce from the farm, offering visitors a true ‘paddock to plate’ experience.
Dairyman’s Cottage will be a welcome addition to the Barossa region’s tourism offering. The property will be an ideal place to stay for families with children who want to experience farm life or for high-yield experience seekers who love food and wine.
The South Australian Tourism Commission has committed $11,000 to the project under its Tourism Development Support Program. The new accommodation fulfils the Barossa Destination Plan’s goal to develop culinary tourism and family friendly experiences, while it also supports the SATC’s State Tourism Plan by creating new 4-5 star accommodation in regional areas.
Owner of Dairyman’s Cottage Michael Wohlstadt said the strategic allocation of resources will help plug the gap of high quality accommodation in the Barossa and add another authentic visitor experience to the region’s offering.
Tourism Barossa Chair Chris Pfeiffer congratulated Barossa Heritage Pork on the development.
“Accommodation of this quality, matched with real experiences, is just what the Barossa is all about. It is a unique experience to be able to share the daily lives of locals in the Barossa. It is a special place with ancient soils capable of producing the best wines and foods in the world and it’s great that we all get to share them.”
