South Rd upgrade hitting property values
NEVILLE BROWN: I am furious about the way the South Road upgrade is being handled.
I am a resident on South Road in what will be the final section of the South Road upgrade – the Gallipoli underpass to River Torrens section. By announcing this in a section by section upgrade they are driving down property values on the remaining sections in order to save money.

We all know this section of South Road is a choke point and, in fact, probably the worst remaining choke point that has not had an update schedule announced. Who will want to buy a property that will have a possible acquisition order in a couple of years?
It is obvious that it is the intent of the government to drive the remaining prices down to save money at the residents’ expense. We do not have government representatives even knocking on our door with an offer when they know that my property will have to be acquired to complete the upgrade as they have already taken all of the available front yard in previous upgrades. They are obviously waiting for the price to drop due to lack of interest from commercial buyers or we abandon it due to increased noise.
