Even in death, Scott E Entsminger remained a stalwart fan of the NFL’s often exasperating Cleveland Browns.

Entsminger’s obituary, published in the Columbus Dispatch of Columbus, Ohio, and available on the newspaper’s website, describes the 55-year-old, who died on July 4, as a lifelong fan of the Browns, who last reached US football’s NFL playoffs in 2002.

“He respectfully requests six Cleveland Browns pall bearers so the Browns can let him down one last time,” the obituary says.

Engsminger’s family suggested that friends wear their Browns gear to a memorial service for Entsminger, a man recalled as “fun loving, kind and caring”.

Entsminger was born in 1958, meaning he was barely 6 years old when the Browns last won a championship back in 1964.

They have made the playoffs plenty of times since – but each time they let their fans down, something Scott hadn’t forgot.
