Poker machine manufacturer Ainsworth Game Technology Limited is one of the first Australian companies to benefit from a falling Australian dollar.

AGT today announced an expected profit upgrade of 41 per cent, partly due to the fall in the dollar.

The company said it expects to report a profit before tax for the financial year ended 30 June 2013 of approximately $65 million, an increase of 41 per cent on the corresponding period in 2012.

“This expected result is based on unaudited results and represents a second half increase of 16 per cent on the $30.1 million reported for the six months ended 31 December 2012,” the company said in a statement to the stock exchange.

AGT said that the improved result expected for FY13 is primarily attributable to foreign currency gains in the second half of FY13 due to the fall in the Australian dollar, increased revenue within Victoria and increased revenue within the international markets of South America and Asia.
