Emirates has taken the top honour at last night’s 2013 World Airline Awards at the Paris Airshow, named “World’s Best Airline”.
The airline recently began direct international flights from Adelaide Airport.
The Skytrax World Airline Awards polled more than 18 million business and leisure air travellers from more than 160 countries.
“To be voted ‘World’s Best Airline’ by millions of discerning travellers really is something for our 60,000 strong workforce to be proud of,” said Tim Clark, Emirates Airline’s president.
“These awards are widely regarded as the industry’s benchmark for excellence.”
Emirates started business in 1985 and its operations have transformed Dubai into a major connecting hub for global air travel.
The recent move into Adelaide gives passengers a direct flight into that hub.
The airline operates 84 flights per week to Dubai from Australia – from Brisbane, Perth, Melbourne, Adelaide and Sydney.
