Anthony tells us the shop's original home was on Pirie street, followed by another 35 years on Peel street.

"Everyone we speak to has a story to tell," says Anthony.
Anthony tells us the best thing about being on Hindley Street is the range of customers. "We get so many visitors from overseas, interstate, we get explorers, people doing weird and wonderful things," he explains.

Meet Harry Townsend, venue manager at Belles Hot Chicken.
Harry says Belles is best known for its vibe. "We offer a great chicken experience, but also a great hospitality experience," he says.

Before Belles moved in, the space was an opal and jewellery shop.
"The landlord’s family business," he explains.
"Over time it's been many things."

She tells us that Apoteca has occupied this space for 23 years.

"Early 2002 we found the building, and found the apothecary cabinets at the same time," she says.

She says the venue is best known for creating safe environments. "We get a lot of different people come through – queer community, dance community, band community. Anything sort of fun and kooky and left of centre really," she says.

Chelsea tells us that the aesthetics of the venue is her favourite part.
"We’ve got lots of amazing nooks of the place, full of art and murals, visually I love the place," she says.
"We have a really diverse team. About 12 people, security guards, bar tenders, general vibe-enhancers. People who keep all of the party goers safe," she says.
