In 2026, the Adelaide Fringe guide is an intimidating 176-pages long. Who has the time? Dear reader, certainly not you. Instead, let Oak from the LadyBoys of Bangkok guide you through the festival season, with his must-stop places in Adelaide.
How many times have you performed at the Adelaide Fringe?
This is my second time performing here, and I love it every year!
What’s a misconception you had about Adelaide before you came here?
I thought it would be a quiet city, but the energy during Fringe is absolutely electric.
What’s special about the Fringe compared to other events in Australia?
The community vibe and how the whole city transforms into one big stage.
When you’re in Adelaide, where do you like to go for a drink?
I usually head to the East End or a hidden small bar on Peel Street.
What about a nice dinner?
You can’t go wrong with the restaurants on Gouger Street or near the Central Market.
How do you deal with hecklers?
I try to turn it into a joke and keep the show moving. Kill them with kindness (and wit)!
What other show at the Fringe would you recommend?
I’d definitely suggest checking out anything at The Garden of Unearthly Delights, it’s the heart of the Fringe!
The Ladyboys of Bangkok is showing at The Garden of Unearthly Delights until Sunday, March 22.
