In 2026, the Adelaide Fringe guide is an intimidating 176-pages long. Who has the time? Dear reader, certainly not you. Instead, let comedian Nath Valvo guide you through the festival season, with his must-stop places in Adelaide.
CM: What’s special about the Fringe compared to other events in Australia?
NV: For me, it’s always my favourite stop on the tour because the show is brand new. I’m saying all the jokes for the first time and it’s terrifying and the best vibe. Don’t tell the other festivals this but a show becomes less exciting to do the more you do it – so Adelaide Fringe gets it at its best.
When you’re in Adelaide, where do you like to go for a drink?
Because I’m a nerd and a loser and 42 years old – back to my hotel for a hot tea because I always lose my voice because the Fringe is very loud and I find myself yelling a lot (and gossiping backstage with comics).
What about a nice dinner?
If I say a desperate 7-eleven sanga at 1am walking back from a late-night gig, will your readers lose respect for me? Comedians in Fringe are single-handedly keeping convenience stores running in this country!
How do you deal with hecklers?
I don’t have to! Being the motor mouth I am makes it very hard for them. Good luck to them finding a moment to interrupt.
What other show at the Fringe would you recommend?
Go see a stand up you know, a stand up you don’t know then finish your night with a weird drag show!
