A festival outing wouldn’t be complete without a stop at a food truck. In no particular order, here are the returning favourites and newbies that we deem essential stops to satiate your festival foodie cravings.

Bao Bao

Steamed buns have become a staple of most Fringe food hubs but this double-barrelled named stop is the self-proclaimed bao specialist. Their soft, pillowy buns come full of favourites like spicy chicken and fillet bao fish along with vegetarian and vegan options.

Twisted potatoes

We get that the festival atmosphere can be overwhelming, which is why this is the perfect snack for when you’re overwhelmed by choice and feel like spiralling. Crispy, salty tornado potatoes are full of twisty charm, not just because of their taste but for the nostalgic novelty that comes from tearing into one.

Waffle sticks

Come festival season, just about every food truck wants to serve something on a stick. In a hand-held foodie world, this new kid in the Garden wants to set itself apart with freshly made golden waffles served hot on a stick, drizzled with your choice of toppings.

Not a truck, but…The Garden Feast

The Garden Feast lineup is dinner and a show in pure Fringe fashion. The outdoor dining events pair a chef, like George Calombaris, fresh off a stint on I’m A Celebrity, Get me Out of Here with MC Effie, the Mary Coustas character, for a Greek-themed multi-course evening. While Mondo Psycho frontwoman Carla Lippis will entertain at a sweet Italian table led by chefs Matt Stone and Enrico Sgarbossa.

Cosmo’s pizza

The team behind the Seinfeld-inspired Hindley Street pizza spot is bringing the taste of New York style pizza to Victoria Square. Their crowd-pleasing pepperoni, mushroom and other options will be available by the slice or as a full pie.

Coffee & Doughnuts

This one does what it says on the tin, but why mess with a classic? Fresh, hot doughnuts are an event staple for a reason. Whether you opt for classic cinnamon or prefer an every-chocolate-and-the-kitchen-sink approach, a sugary sweet treat never goes astray after a show.

Burrito Boi

Subscribe for updates

If you’re looking for a place to take your gluten-free friends after a show, Burrito Boi has got you covered. Expect freshly stuffed burritos, crispy tacos and more dietary friendly favourites.

Not a truck, but…Sip SA at Fool’s Paradise

Victoria Square’s Fool’s Paradise has a focus on locally made drinks, with bars stocked with SA-based small batch gin distiller Flagship, Port Adelaide-based Pirate Life and Penola winery Koonara. The award-winning wines are available for exclusive Saturday afternoon tastings, while summer cocktails starring Flagship Distillery’s artisanal gins will also be on hand.

Gang Gang

We couldn’t do a food truck trail without shouting out 2025’s cover stars Gang Gang, a staple of the Adelaide Festival events calendar. In a world full of truck trends, the Cardi B signature chicken burger or God’s Plan classic cheeseburger is timeless.

Motherlode

The cult chicken shop is back in food truck form after closing its Hindley Street spot in June 2025. If you’ve been missing their nuggets, you’ll be able to taste their zesty lemon, buffalo ranch, cauliflower alternatives or honey siracha tenders this Fringe.

Life Lemonade

If you’re after a sweet drink to sip on for those festival-filled summer nights, Life Lemonade has got you covered. From classic, raspberry or pineapple options, the drinks cart promises fresh lemonades to put a zing in your step.

Not a truck, but…Andre’s Cucina & Polenta Bar

Masterchef Alum Andre Ursino is bringing his popular polenta bar in a speciality pop-up restaurant in Gluttony’s Rymill Park. Andre’s Cucina & Polenta Bar was the first restaurant opened by the chef on Frome Street in 2010 and operated for 10 years. Expect some of the polenta bar’s biggest hits like beef carpaccio and of course, polenta.
