
From a club night on New Year’s Eve to a hangover cure on New Year’s Day, we’ve got the details about what’s open this week.

There’s nothing better than going out for a morning coffee with your family or housemates when you all have a day off on a public holiday – until you realise that the local café is shut. Never fear though; café and roastery Hark is open ’til 12pm at both of their locations in Malvern and Panorama, to start off your new year with a caffeine fix. Don’t forget to stock up on their in-house roasted beans while you’re there.
If you feel like escaping the heat, just a short drive to the Adelaide Hills is The Organic Market and Café in Stirling. The café is open through the Christmas period, shutting only on Christmas Day but open 8.30 to 3.30 on all public holidays. Be sure to try their daily specials and juices made from fresh local ingredients and to check out the organic produce in the market at the front of the shop.
For a city offering, My Kingdom for a Horse’s Wright Street location is open every day except for Christmas Day. Their specialty beans are roasted on-site, and you can also stock up on coffee filters and supplies. Their huge menu is sure to have something for everyone, and they also have a massive range of coffees and drinks – including some delicious cocktails.
This family-run Adelaide institution with locations in Melrose Park and Somerton Park is open New Years Eve from 6am ’til 5pm. On New Year’s Day they’ll have a small sleep-in, open from 7am ’til 5pm.

If you love a rooftop bar in summer, level 9 of SkyCity is open all through the holidays, including from 5pm to 9pm on New Years Day. Ring in the new year with their extensive wine and cocktail list alongside one of the best views in Adelaide over the Adelaide Oval and the surrounding parklands. They’re open for ticketed events on New Years Eve, which includes drink packages and live DJs.
Also on Saturdays, all Summer is their SOL Day Club complete with a Baja-Cali inspired menu open from 2pm to 5pm and featuring cocktail jugs and summer beers.
This McLaren Vale Winery is closed on Christmas Day but open all other days, with tastings available from 11am to 4pm, and its kitchen open for casual dining from 12pm to 3.30pm. With its picturesque vineyards overlooking the ocean, this is the perfect spot to impress your interstate friends and family.
Enjoy a golden hour sunset and relax on the lawns while sipping a glass of wine by ordering from the casual dining menu. If you’re looking for something heartier, the connected Fiore Restaurant, known for their pasta and local produce, is open for its regular hours from Thursday to Sunday 12 to 5pm with extended opening hours on Monday the 29th of December to Wednesday the 31st of December.
New York Italian restaurant Tarantino’s has been all the rage since it opened in late June, and for good reason. If you haven’t had a chance to go, it’s shut only on Christmas Day and the 27th to the 30th before reopening for an “Italian Masquerade” New Years Eve dinner party. Located at the eastern end of Vardon Avenue, some of the highlights from their open kitchen and wood-fired oven are their handmade pasta, grilled t-bone steaks, and tiramisu dessert.
This signature restaurant at Kingsford in the Barossa is open to customers for lunch on Saturdays and Sundays (12 to 3pm) and dinner on Wednesdays to Sundays (6 to 9pm). The menu, led by chef Jake Kellie, known for Arkhe, features local produce including crudité with smoked eggplant and macadamia nuts, and Lyndoch duck with caramelised orange and choux farcis.
On New Year’s Eve the Lodge bar will have live music, a cheese table and drinks from 9:30pm ’til 1am – but be sure to book before making the drive.
This Spanish-inspired restaurant has earned its reputation as a must-visit if you’re going to Hahndorf. They’re closed on NYE but open from 9am ’til 4pm on Dec 29 and 30 and then back at it from January 1 from 12pm ’til 9pm. So if you’re looking for a relaxing garden to sit in and enjoy a $25 paella and sangria lunch special on weekdays, their summer menu isn’t one to miss.
The North Adelaide hotspot inside the newly-opened 88 O’Connell Development is celebrating it’s first New Year’s Eve with two curated menus by chef Adam Liston. It’s three bars will be set up for punters to party under the stars, with a two-hour roaming canape service, DJs and live entertainment. Bookings are essential to secure your spot.

As always, the City of Adelaide will host it’s Elder Park Riverbank event with dazzling fireworks displays at 9pm and midnight lighting up the skies. Enjoy family-friendly entertainment, incredible live performances and a festive atmosphere to welcome 2025. Bring your picnic blanket and indulge in food and drinks while soaking up the celebratory vibe under the stars.
If you’re looking for some festive nightlife, Mary’s Poppin is open all through the Christmas and New Year break. On New Years Eve, their annual party will go ahead with drag shows all night and DJs spinning in every room. They are also open for Boxing Day at Mary’s, and on Friday the 2nd of January have their Drag Star 2026 Launch party.

This New Year’s Eve, Rhino Room is hosting the Transmission DJ’s Indie Sleaze party. They promise to bring back the vibe of dingy dive bars, neon lights and sweaty dancefloors with sounds like the The Strokes, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Lily Allen and more.
It’s an 18+ event with doors open from 8pm and tickets from $18 via Moshtix.
Ring in the New Year with an Aussie summer of sport at Adelaide Oval’s Big Bash League match between the Adelaide Strikers and Brisbane Heat. Aussie rock band Birds of Tokyo will headline the post-match entertainment and in a post-match bash on the Riverbank Stand you can score a front-row seat to the city’s fireworks display.
