The South Australian-based Helpmann Academy is partnering with Adelaide University to host three-time Grammy-nominated saxophonist Troy Roberts for a performance at the UKARIA Cultural Centre on May 16, 2026.
Troy is visiting from New York City with 16 acclaimed releases to his name. For this concert, he brings a mix of new material from his recent album, Green Lights, alongside various jazz classics. The event also serves as the annual Helpmann Academy Jazz Awards, which highlights the next generation of local artists performing alongside an international headliner.
An ensemble of award-winning students from Adelaide University’s Elder Conservatorium of Music and School of Performing Arts will perform on the day. The stage will also feature staff who are Adelaide established artists: Stephen Neville on drums, and ARIA-nominated musicians James Muller on guitar and Lyndon Gray on double bass.
The afternoon at the Mount Barker Summit venue focuses on contemporary jazz in an intimate setting. This is the premier annual jazz event for Helpmann Academy, which is supported by local partners and donors to fund the future of the jazz industry.
