The Push-Up Challenge is back for its tenth year, encouraging Australians to get fit and raise awareness for mental health.

From June 3 to 26, participants will take on 3,307 push-ups over 24 days to remember and honour the 3,307 lives lost to suicide in Australia in 2024.

For those not up for the full challenge, you can set your own push-up goal or choose alternative exercises like sit-ups and squats.

The number of daily push-ups changes to reflect a different mental health fact each day, encouraging participants to learn more about mental health.

The event is free to join, and fundraising is optional. Participants can choose to raise money for Lifeline, headspace, or the Push for Better Foundation, the charity that runs the event.

Founder Nick Hudson says the challenge is about engaging people in mental health through connection, physical activity, and education.

“Mental health challenges will affect nearly everyone at some point in their lives,” Nick says.

“So whether they’re taking part themselves or supporting someone who is, we’re calling on every Australian to get behind the Challenge, because every push-up, and every conversation about mental health, brings us one step closer to reducing the stigma surrounding mental illness through education.”
