Symphony Series 7 – Framed in Sound

A whip crack, ratchets, five percussionists, and a finale that fills every corner of Adelaide Town Hall. Ravel’s orchestration of Mussorgsky’s Pictures at an Exhibition is music at its most spectacular, and this August is your chance to see the ASO bring it to life.

Keitaro Harada returns with his infectious on-stage energy. Ravel’s orchestration of Mussorgsky’s Pictures at an Exhibition uses the full colour of the orchestra to bring paintings to life – from ornate clocks and grand city gates to ballet costumes and a ghostly castle. Stravinsky’s playful ballet score Jeu de cartes dances with bright, darting rhythms. Australian-French composer Katia Beaugeais wrote Piano Concerto No.1 Bells of Time specially for Stefan Cassomenos, who gives its World Premiere in this vibrant program.
