The Kitchen at SkyCity is taking a trip down Australia’s culinary memory lane this June with its Retro Revival: Penfolds Edition. This limited-time menu offers a nostalgic journey through the decades, pairing modern takes on classic dishes with iconic South Australian Penfolds wines. SkyCity head sommelier and signature outlets manager, Jimmy Parham, describes the experience as “retro comfort with a fine wine twist”.
Drawing inspiration from recipes of the 1950s to the 1990s, particularly from Australian Women’s Weekly magazines, the menu features modern twists on culinary classics. The signature Retro Revival experience is a five-course progressive meal available for $89 per person, with dishes like slow-cooked brisket and cheesecake Alaska. Optional Penfolds wine pairings are also on offer.
“It’s a love letter to Aussie kitchens of decades past – doilies, jacket potatoes and all – reimagined with the elegance of Penfolds,” Jimmy Parham says.
For those booking Tuesday to Thursday, retro table dressing can be requested.
