A benefit concert in support of the Alma Nuns, the Nun Sense concert, will be held at The Wheatsheaf Hotel on March 31, featuring performances from Adelaide bands Pelvis and The Wrong Road.

Paulie Stewart, lead singer of Painters and Dockers, will join The Wrong Road for a one-off collaboration.

Paulie’s brother Tony was one of the Balibo Five journalists killed in Timor-Leste in 1975, and the concert coincides with the 50th anniversary of their deaths.

“The blood of my brother is in the land of Timor-Leste, and by supporting the Alma Nuns, I feel closer to him,” Paulie says.

“These incredible women give love and dignity to children who would otherwise be abandoned, and in doing so, they honour the very people my brother was trying to protect.”

The concert will also include first-hand accounts from two students from St Ignatius College who recently visited the nuns in Timor-Leste.

All proceeds from ticket sales will go to the Alma Nuns. The nuns have received high-profile support over the years from artists including The Wiggles, Bono, and Kylie Minogue.
