The banks of Adelaide’s River Torrens/Karrawirra Parri will echo with the ancient sounds of First Nations languages, song and dance amid the cleansing smoke of ceremonial fires early on January 26.
At the annual Mourning in the Morning event Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people will share their cultural beliefs and practices through song, dance and storytelling.
Held on Kaurna Country since 2019 and developed in close consultation with a First Nations Open Circle Discussion Group, Mourning in the Morning is presented by the Australia Day Council of South Australia (ADCSA).
It offers everyone an opportunity to reflect on Australia’s colonial and contemporary past and share a vision of a more inclusive future.
Mourning in the Morning will be followed by Aus Lights on The River 2025, starting at 5pm and finishing with fireworks at 9.30pm.
