Local Food on Country returns to the Fleurieu Peninsula on April 6. The event, held at Peninsula Providore, celebrates local food and features discussions about resilience in the face of climate change. Attendees can meet local producers, enjoy food tastings and relax with live music in the olive grove. There will also be a local food trail.

Chris Day from Cockatoo Creek Farm, a local champion of sustainable agriculture, says the event offers “a fantastic chance to connect with the local Fleurieu community about the importance of direct relationships between the grower and the eater”.

Kaurna Fire Team’s Quahli Newchurch will discuss the role of fire in healing Country, while John Mannion, CEO of Breakthrough Mental Health Foundation, will speak about mental health support during challenging times.

The event is run by The Food Embassy, a South Australian social enterprise focused on strengthening local food systems. The event is part of the Hills and Fleurieu Local Food Futures Project.
