The Australia Day Council of South Australia launches the next iteration of its Inspiring Women Series, titled “Inspiring Women Impacting the World and Beyond – Women In Defence”. This event features two expert panels with distinguished industry speakers, facilitated by Julie Cooper FAICD, a Non-Executive Director at NOVA Systems, an Adelaide-based company.

Attendees will hear from women who have significantly influenced the defence sector. Speakers include South Australians such as Jessica Pisani, Executive Director of Strategic Engagement for the Office for AUKUS, and Sumen Rai, Director of the Defence Innovation Partnership. Dr Sarah Cannard, Senior Systems Engineer at Nova and Industry Director at SmartSat CRC, also joins the panels. The event will also feature a special message from Colonel (Ret’d) Pam Melroy, a US Fighter Pilot, Astronaut, and NASA leader.

The organisers say the event aims to “explore their journeys, learn from their insights, and celebrate their invaluable contributions,” providing a memorable occasion filled with “inspiration, knowledge, and networking opportunities”. This gathering is an opportunity to honour trailblazing women and inspire the next generation of leaders.
