The First Nations Film Festival (FNFF25) returns, running online from May 27–June 10, in line with National Reconciliation Week. This year’s theme is “Bridging Now to Next”.

Five films will be available to stream online via FanForceTV, spanning horror, poetry, documentary and drama. FNFF25 is designed not only for individual viewers but also for schools, workplaces, and community groups. Bulk passes and screening kits are available.

Director and Wiradjuri poet Jazz Money’s feature film Winhanganha is part of this year’s line-up. Award-winning filmmaker Danielle MacLean returns with her film Like My Brother, about Tiwi girls breaking barriers to play AFL. The festival will also feature Jon Bell’s psychological thriller The Moogai, the documentary Blown Away (about Indigenous survivors of Cyclone Tracy), and a collection of First Nation shorts (The Drover’s BoyBluey, and Yellow Fella).

Jazz says she “wanted to tell a story of how these archives of the National Film and Sound Archive affect the lives of First Nations people today through complex and intersecting ways”.

Danielle adds, “these girls were brave enough to dare to dream – and I think that was contagious. I wanted to be part of it.”

Proceeds from the festival support the Indigenous Literacy Foundation. The FNFF platform is available on iOS, Android, desktop, Apple TV, Chromecast and other major devices.
