An ugly-beautiful performance by two women over 50 who bathe in deep pits of domestic detritus to investigate the body’s relationship to systems of power.
Bodies are immersed in black oil. Steel bedframes are suspended and manipulated overhead. Domestic objects are pushed beyond function, including heavy materials hurled into a clothes dryer where impact becomes rhythm and percussion.
Created by acclaimed experimental performance company Branch Nebula and featuring performers Mirabelle Wouters and Latai Taumoepeau, Exposure places the body under sustained pressure, testing instability, resilience and transformation through movement, sound and material force.
Following acclaimed seasons in Sydney and Melbourne, including presentations at RISING and the inaugural Australian Dance Biennale, multi-award-winning South Australian company Vitalstatistix presents this limited Adelaide season at Waterside Workers Hall this June.
Developed through Vitalstatistix’s renowned and multi-award winning Adhocracy, a national experimental arts hothouse, Exposure now returns to Port Adelaide.
