Be transported to 19th‑century France in Empress Joséphine’s Garden, a breathtaking immersive digital exhibition now showing at Immersive Light and Art (ILA).
This visually spectacular experience reveals the remarkable life of Empress Joséphine Bonaparte. The original influencer who shaped fashion, art and early scientific exploration, and whose legacy extended far beyond her role as Napoleon’s wife.
Presented across 110 square metres of wall‑to‑wall LED screens, and accompanied by layered sound and evocative storytelling, the 45‑minute exhibition traces her journey from the upheaval of the French Revolution to the height of imperial luxury.
At its heart is Joséphine’s enduring passion for botany. At her famed Château de Malmaison, she cultivated more than 200 exotic plant specimens, including rare flora and fauna collected from Australia’s south and west coasts during pioneering French expeditions of the 18th century.
Lose yourself in lush digital gardens and a richly told story of curiosity, ambition and cultural exchange. Then linger a little longer at the ILA Bar after your session for a glass of award-winning Bellebonne sparkling, or a coffee and cake!
Must end 17 May.
