One of Australia’s most loved singer-songwriters Dan Sultan is set to breathe new life into his critically acclaimed album Blackbird with a special tenth-anniversary performance featuring the Adelaide Symphony Orchestra.

This landmark concert promises to showcase the depth and versatility that made Dan’s third studio album a standout in Australian music.

Blackbird captures his remarkable musical range as a songwriter and performer in an album that delivers powerhouse riffs met by crackling gospel interludes, rock and roll and soul jams, pure country tones, and bare, aching ballads.

What began as a groundbreaking studio record now transforms into a dynamic orchestral experience that promises to reveal new dimensions of the music.

With orchestral arrangements from Alex Turley and featuring original artwork from Dan’s long-time collaborator Jarra Karalinar Steel, this triumphant event is ten years in the making.

Emerging conductor Aaron Wyatt, an advocate for Indigenous classical music and musicians, will lead the orchestra, adding another layer of cultural significance to the evening.

As Tone Deaf noted on the album’s release, “Dan Sultan’s Blackbird epitomises everything a good Australian rock album should be. A perfectly balanced blend of big band rock n’ roll matched with soft, soulful ballads.”
