Coastal Sounds returns this King’s Birthday public holiday, transforming 13 kilometres of Adelaide’s western beaches into a free, family-friendly festival of live music, art, and dance.

The lineup includes local artists Meena De Silva and Sandra Gan – whose resumes include WOMADelaide – the Atlantic Street Band, Jen Lush, Maisie B and more.

Now in its fifth year, the event has expanded from its Henley Beach beginnings to encompass locations from West Beach through to Semaphore. Twenty-six performances, experiences, and workshops will be led by South Australian artists, with activities ranging from swing, Indian, and Brazilian dance workshops to recycled musical instrument workshops for kids, live cello and harp performances, and even a baby dinosaur petting zoo. Unlike a traditional festival, Coastal Sounds has no stages or fences; audiences can get up close with the action at various locations along the coast.

City of Charles Sturt Mayor Angela Evans says Coastal Sounds “brings a vibrant wave of energy to our western beaches, offering surprising and delightful experiences for all ages”.

Evans says the lineup includes artists “representing different cultures, genres, and stages of their careers – from high-profile acts to emerging young talents still in high school”.

Coastal Sounds will take place on Monday, June 9, from 11:00 am ‘til 6:00 pm. See the full program online.
