The Adelaide Central Market is celebrating Bastille Day with two days of French-inspired festivities on Friday, July 11 and Saturday, July 12. The market will be transformed with a program of music, family fun, and French fare from traders.
Event highlights include free cooking demonstrations from Le Cordon Bleu chefs and Valerie Henbest of the Smelly Cheese Co. The French Wine Centre pop-up returns with a Champagne bar, while roving performers like Marie Antoinette and Can Can Dancers will entertain shoppers. There will also be pop-up stalls for French crepes and raclette. For those wanting a deeper dive, the ticketed ‘le tour du Marché’ is back, as is the ‘Cheese After Dark’ special on Saturday night.
French-born Adelaide Central Market general manager, Fabienne Reilly, says Bastille Day at the Market is a joyful celebration of food, culture, and community.
“Fête nationale is about more than just food – it’s a chance to come together and celebrate French culture through music, language, and shared experience,” Fabienne says.
