The Adelaide Jazz Festival returns from April 24 to May 2, 2025, with a special extended program celebrating the city’s 10th anniversary as a UNESCO City of Music and International Jazz Day. This year focuses on South Australian talent and the venues that regularly support live jazz in Adelaide.
The festival presents diverse genres, opening with Afro-Cuban ensemble Sabor a Cuba, led by trumpeter Lazaro Numa. The City of Adelaide presents two free events: a lunchtime concert at Adelaide Town Hall and Jazz In The Square, an evening event in Hindmarsh Square with firepits and food trucks.
“We’re thrilled to once again support this tremendous festival… bringing some of that swing time energy back to the city,” says Lord Mayor Dr Jane Lomax-Smith AM.
AJF Creative Partner, the Elder Conservatorium, hosts shows at Hal’s Hall, including an ANZAC Day show featuring wartime-era jazz. Local jazz-rockers Djawbreaker perform David Lynch-inspired music at The Lab, accompanied by digital art. The Grace Emily Hotel hosts emerging contemporary acts ranging from nu-jazz to electro-jazz. Adelaide Festival Centre will again present its UNESCO International Jazz Day Concert.
