After losing a planned 2020 Adelaide season to Covid-19, Magic Mike Live will grind its way to the Adelaide Festival Centre stage to coincide with next year’s AFL Gather Round.
Magic Mike Live’s Australian tour will arrive in Adelaide from April 7 2027, the Adelaide Festival Centre announced today.
The Festival Theatre will be transformed into an immersive, 360-degree stage designed specifically for the production, which Festival Centre CEO Kate Gould said would complement the city’s Footy Festival scheduled for the same weekend.
“Coinciding with AFL Gather Round, Magic Mike Live will add even more energy and excitement to the city, giving South Australians and visitors the chance to experience this extraordinary new production,” Gould said.
“Festival Theatre is made for spectacular live entertainment, and to see it transformed for a show with the energy, scale and global reputation of Magic Mike Live will be something very special.”
The news arrives in the midst of the Festival Centre’s final OzAsia festival program, with Gould announcing in August that the long-running multicultural arts festival’s twentieth anniversary year would be its last. At the time, Gould foreshadowed a change in direction for the way the Centre approaches programming.
“We are committed to festivals, but in terms of the need to be reactive to what audiences are seeking and in regards to getting the big-name artists to Adelaide, we are changing the way we’re approaching the programming of those artists,” Gould told InDaily in August.
The touring production features professional dance and acrobatics based on the 2012 film Magic Mike starring Channing Tatum. The film franchise, which also spawned two sequels, earned over $340 million worldwide.
Since premiering in 2017, the live version played long-running residencies in Las Vegas and London. An earlier Australian tour was slated for December 2020 but due to Covid-19, it’s Adelaide Brisbane and Perth stops were cancelled.
Magic Mike Live executive producer Vincent Marini said “for years now, our team has tried to figure out how to bring the experience that millions of Magic Mike Live fans have witnessed at our residencies in London and Las Vegas to audiences in cities, large and small, around the world”.
“The new Magic Mike Live tour is bigger, bolder and in many ways even more groundbreaking than the original, with new music, inspired staging, reimagined choreography, and a 360-degree production design that is simply mind-blowing.

“Whether you’re a longtime fan or just wondering what all the hype is about, this is the once-in-a-lifetime live experience you simply have to see to believe.”
Magic Mike Live – The Tour features its largest company assembled to date for a single production, including South Australian performer Kiana De Van Der Schueren – a model and dancer now based in Los Angeles with 49,000 Instagram followers.
The cast includes Kalon Badenhorst as Mike and Chelsea Lee Wheatley and Australia’s Julie Yamannee sharing the MC role.
The tour is co-directed and choreographed by Emmy-nominated choreographer Alison Faulk with Luke Broadlick.
Magic Mike Live – The Tour will play Adelaide Festival Centre from April 7 to 24, 2027. Tickets will go on sale from Wednesday October 14 via Ticketek.
