Beer & BBQ’s SA musicians to add to your playlist

Brad Chicken and the Bootstraps

What’s your favourite Adelaide live music venue to play?
Shotgun Willie’s is always a mighty fine place to shake the dust off your boots. Good stage, good crowd, cold beer. That’s country music heaven right there.

What three words would you use to describe the atmosphere you want to create at the Beer & BBQ Festival?
Loud. Rowdy. Sweaty

Would you rather: Beer or BBQ?
Now that’s just cruel. Asking a country band to choose between beer and BBQ is like asking us to choose between guitars and cowboy hats. But if there’s a gun to my head, I’ll take the BBQ and wash it down with somebody else’s beer.

Favourite SA act right now and why? (Not yourselves!)
Bromham. They hit a stage like they’ve been shot out of a cannon. Big riffs, big energy and they remind us to let go of your inhibitions, dance like a maniac and just have a good time and not worry about anything else.

Bromham

Bromham is an indie-folk band from the Adelaide Hills, born out of a music community with about 14 members.

Answered by Glokenspiel player Georgy Rochow.

What’s your favourite Adelaide live music venue to play?
Choosing a favourite Adelaide venue is like trying to choose a favourite child and each child is exceptionally cool and vibey. We have had so many great moments across diverse venues throughout the years…a coin toss between Jive and The Wheaty seems like a fair shout.

What three words would you use to describe the atmosphere you want to create at the Beer and BBQ festival?
Silly, heartfelt, raucous.

Would you rather: Beer or BBQ?
Is gluten-free beer allowed? Either way, a carton of beers is easier to split 14 ways than a carton of BBQ!

Anya Anastasia – she pushes boundaries, blending experimental alt-rock and activism through storytelling. Anya’s music is hauntingly beautiful, thought-provoking, and powerful.

El Coyote

¿Por qué no los dos?

Favourite SA act right now and why? (Not yourselves!)
I’d have to say either Ryan Martin John or Tin Town are on the highest rotation currently.

Young Offenders

What’s your favourite Adelaide live music venue to play?
We have a couple; We love playing The Gov it’s always a great atmosphere and they really look after us. The Ed Castle is another favourite, taking over from The Crown & Anchor it’s a real champion of local live music.

What three words would you use to describe the atmosphere you want to create at the Beer and BBQ festival?
High Energy Party!

Would you rather: Beer or BBQ?
I think collectively we would have to say BEER! Maybe beer on day one followed by a little BBQ for the hangover on day two?

Favourite SA act right now and why?
That is tough; the live scene is full of great bands. We are going to have to say LOLA – incredible energy, great songwriting, even better blokes!
