The founder of Gluttony is hosting the second iteration of the festival Our Sound this November, which will bring the best of drum and bass to Adelaide. See the full lineup.

A legendary Australian DJ is among a solid Our Sound drum and bass festival lineup returning to Bonython Park/Tulya Wardli in November.

The Saturday, November 22, festival is making its return with Groove Events – the team behind Gluttony at the Adelaide Fringe – after a successful debut last year.

Headlining Our Sound this year is drum and bass heavyweight Wilkinson alongside a Pendulum DJ set.

Wilkinson is best known for songs ‘Afterglow’ and ‘Use to This’, whereas Pendulum is best known for its debut album Hold Your Colour which includes tracks like ‘Slam’ and ‘Blood Sugar’.

The Collective, a South Australian business that brings international drum and bass musicians to Adelaide, is curating the second stage, with its lineup to be announced soon.

When we spoke to Groove Events director Daniel Michael last year, he told us that creating a festival with a niche, like Our Sound is with drum and bass music, is the formula for music festival success.

“I think what we’ve seen with the festivals being a hard sell is that people don’t want to pay for 15 or 20 acts when they want to see three or four of them,” Daniel told CityMag at the time.

This was because the popularity of streaming services means listeners’ music tastes were “curated by AI a little bit, so whether you’re on Spotify or YouTube or whatever, you’re then fed more of the same things that you like”.

“Don’t buy a ticket if you like heavy metal and don’t like anything else because that’s not what [Our Sound] is. Don’t buy a ticket if you only like chilled-out house music, because that’s not what this is,” he says.

“Do buy a ticket if you like drum and bass because that’s what this is, you know? So everyone who buys a ticket knows that they’re getting full value for their ticket, right?

“They know that if they like drum and bass, they’re going to get drum and bass all day, and that’s the point of it.”

Daniel says the energy at last year’s Our Sound debut in December was “incredible”.

“We knew from the initial response that something special was brewing, and the festival itself was absolute magic,” he says.

“This year, we’ve secured some of the most iconic names in the genre, while still giving a platform to the amazing talent coming out of Adelaide.

“Our Sound isn’t just a festival, it’s a celebration of this community that just keeps on growing.”

The first Our Sound festival lineup is:
