We don’t know much about independent music label Swirl Record’s Christmas party, which is kicking off this Friday at the West End live music venue Jive, but we do know it’s most probably going to be spicy.

According to trusted sources (read: the Facebook event) the dress code is “festive” and best get-up wins a jug of beer.

Gerry Bain, Tom Matheson and Hamish Gibson-Smith started Swirl Records three years ago with no real intention, except wanting to give up-and-coming bands the opportunity to release music and play live. Since then, they’ve become a pillar of South Australia’s music community, forging a route for some of the city’s best psychedelic, indie, country and rock bands to travel on.

This Friday, expect to hear sounds from some of those musicians and their friends, such as shed-rock quartet Dead Roo, folk-rock princess Keeskea and sun-drenched indie outfit Mystery Sea Creature.

Give the Swirl Record boys a (sanitised) high-five for the year when you’re there, while you’re at it.
